The Gender Voice Index (GVI) is a new assessment tool created in 2023 for speech-language pathologists, voice therapists, and other voice professionals. It measures how well a client's voice and communication aligns with their gender. This can be used for clients of all genders - transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive clients, as well as cisgender clients who have vocal conditions such as puberphonia.

It contains 26 questions which measure the construct of congruence (alignment) of a client's voice with their gender. It also provides a space for clients to describe their target voice, in quantitative and qualitative terms.
